You might be able to get the dentist to give you a mouth piece so that it helps stop wearing down his teeth. My niece is 8 and has been grinding her teeth since she was about 4 or 5. The dentist doesn't want to give her a mouth piece because she could swallow it and choke in her sleep...hopefully you don't have the same problem with your son being tthat risk. Best of luck!
a mannerism... ask doctors and distract him, i mean, really distract him, you can do it from sports to games etc.
You need to take him to the dentist and have the dentist make him a mouth guard.
i wish i COULD help. My 5 yr. old does this and it KILLS me. I asked the Dr. about it at his last check-up and they said it could be a # of different things including stress. They told me to take him to the dentist to have them see if its a problem and go from there so I'm just waiting for his appt. good luck!
Yes, go to the dentist and get a mouth guard. Its funny because I just went this week because I grind my teeth at night and there is nothing I can do to stop it. My teeth at the front were worn so he had to fix them.
ANAMIKA,
ASK YOUR DENTIST TO MAKE YOUR SON AN N.T.I. BRUXISM APPLIANCE.SINCE HE ALREADY HAS HIS PERMANENT FRONT TEETH THIS APPLIANCE SHOULD BE FINE FOR HIM.
