what does the nitrous oxide do in the dentist office?
what does it actually do and how does it help?
Answers:
Inhaling a mixutre of nitrous oxide and oxygen causes you to be a little relaxed and "out-of-it." You're not actually asleep, but your senses are fuzzy.
Some people with fears or anxiety find it helps them to relax during treatment. Other oral medications can do the same thing, but the effects last longer. With nitrous, towards the end of the treatment you are given just oxygen and the "fuzzies" leave you completely. You can drive home and not be a hazzard to yourself or others (unless you are that way normally.)
....it causes you to feel "happy"...and you do not feel any pain..it takes a while to "wear-off"...enjoy!
makes all your teeth fall out without having them pulled
It causes a groping sensation if you take too much.
Nitrous is not a pain killer. The Lidocaine or Novocaine shots hurt like hell, the nitrous makes you giggle and not really care much that you are about to get stabbed in the gums by a painful shot multiple times. Basically it calms you down and makes the dentist fun!
it is an anestetic.numbs the pain in your face so the dentist can operate.has side affect of making you laugh real hard, hence why it is also called laughing gas. plus it is used in high performace motor cars as a quick burning accelerante.shot of nos in the engine and you are in turbo mode
It makes your whole body numb, and it makes you feel really good. If you have enough of it, it makes you kind of pass out.
It makes your teeth comes out without pulled.
Nitrous oxide is not an anesthetic gas. Instead it is used as an analgesic that allows a patient to relax. Most often, local anesthetic is also given to the patient. The relaxation that the patient realizes is enhanced by the ability of the dentist "talk" the patient to a happy place. It is safe if administered correctly and can make appointments go very smoothly.
it is suppose to relax you---did nothing for me!
It doesnt actually stop the pain, it just makes you not care about it.
I don't know the medical terminology that explains what it does. But I have used it. I know it causes you to relax while the dentist does his work. You still are aware of what is going on , but it keeps you from being nervous about it. They place a breathing mask over your nose and you just breathe in. Simple, painless, and I can't go to dentist without it!!
