Who invinted Chewing gum?

Answers:
Chewing gum, in various forms, has existed since at least Ancient Greece. The Greeks chewed mastic gum, made from the resin of the mastic tree. Betel, a mild narcotic, has enjoyed popularity in India for millennia. Many other cultures have chewed gum-like substances made from plants, grasses, and resins. The American Indians chewed resin made from the sap of spruce trees. The New England settlers picked up this practice, and in the early 1880s attempts were made to commercially market spruce gum. Around 1850 a gum made from paraffin wax was developed and soon exceeded the spruce gum in popularity. Modern chewing gum was first developed in the 1860s when chicle was imported from Mexico for use as a rubber subsititute.

Thomas Adams, conducted experiments with the chicle and called it "Chiclets", which helped found the chewing gum industry. William Semple filed the first patent on chewing gum, patent number 98,304, on December 28, 1869.

Semon is sometimes credited with inventing bubble gum, but this is inaccurate. He did invent an indigestible synthetic rubber substance that could be used as a bubble gum (and produced exceptionally large bubbles), but the product remained a curiosity and was never sold.

Wrigley's did not launch their brand until 1893. The company also produces Juicy Fruit, which was introduced before Wrigley's Gum but was taken off the market during World War II because of shortages in the necessary ingredients to make it. The gum was re-introduced to the general public in 1946.

Waldo L. Semon of The B.F. Goodrich Company in Akron, Ohio invented the original compound and patented it. When the patent expired, Bazooka repatented it.
I think that was Mr.Wrigley in Chicago, founder of Wrigley Gum. That should be a pretty interesting subject to google.
