I need information about braces.?

K, well I got braces in january (about 3 months ago) and my teeth are completely straight and everythings finished. Like he said they need to stay for a bit, but he said he's leaving them in for 2 and a half more years! Is that really necessary if they're already completely straight?

Well, to tell you the truth...they are the experts. I mean they went through dent. school and was certified to put the braces on. I was told that even if your teeth is fine, the braces still have to stay in there a while longer. The reason can be different for everyone, but their jobs as orthos is to make sure that their clients get the best treatment possible. You might think that your teeth are straight, but have you looked in the sides and the back where you cannot really see? Think of the worst case scenario, you take the brackets and everything off and then you come to find out that there is a slight gap again. I think you might not want to have those things put back on...like every other person. Also, the ortho knows what he is doing, quite frankly he might see a slight problem that might occur. This also depends on your age as well. Also, think of it this way, at least you don't need them for six to ten years. I have friends who had braces for at least six years. Their problem was fixed, but they still had it on because the ortho thinks that would be the best. Braces maybe a pain for now, but a smile will last a lifetime.
you know dentists come 2 know more than us and if u keep it more your teeth will be more straight!!
Well, I had braces about a bazillion yrs ago, but I know that even if the teeth are straight the bone has not yet solidified therefore, the 21/2 yrs of wearing braces.
