Estimates for orthodontic work?

I recentley found out that my 4 year old boy has a crossbite and will need a palate expander and braces when he gets older. My insurance plan does not cover any orthodontic work and neither does his father's. Can anyone that has had little ones that have needed these things give me an estimate as to what you paid? I know I'll have to start a saving account to help cover the expenses..lol :-)

My daughter had a cross bite and the palate expander. Her orthodontic treatment was $4,800.00 (6-7 years ago). Most orthodontists have a payment plan. Check around and good luck.
I live in Georgia and I work in an orthodontic office and you are looking to pay between 4,000.00-4,500.00. Good Luck with the savings lol..lol...I know this sucks but it could lead to alot of jaw problems as your child gets older.
It can be very expensive!! It really depends on where you go, so shop around first. My work cost about $10,000 for several years. The government may be able to help with the cost if you qualify, but a bit of friendly advice: make sure he follows his orthodontist's instructions so the treatment will take less time and cost less.
You really should go with a discount dental plan. I have AMeriplan and since it's not insurance they cover everything. The discounts are between 25 and 80%. I only pay $19.95 a month for the household dental plan. I recently got my son's braces on the plan and we only pd. $1936.00 There phone # is 1-800-784-1719. Good Luck!
