flossing?

What is the point in it? What does it do? Are you meant to rub your gums or between your teeth? When i have done it it just doesn't feel right or its doing anything?

How often should you floss?

Answers:
it gets stuff out of between your teeth. do it every day.between your teeth.

The point in flossing is to get the food and other items out of between your teeth to prevent build up.
you should floss every ten minutes to get the full effect and benefit from it. It will open the space between your teeth so you can easily spit 15 feet through your front teeth. It's a really neat trick off the balcony of a theater
your dentist will tell you to floss each day, it cleans the food particles out from between your teeth, which can build up and cause plaque. Plaque if left can cause gum disease, which could result in tooth loss. Yes it's a pain, but hey there are a couple of new devices in your local grocery store that could make it easier. Check them out in the toothpaste/wash isle.
If you get a peice of meat stuck deep between your teeth, it rots and eventually smells like roadkill.

Floss often if you're prone to get crap caught between teeth.

Plus that rotten crap can cause your teeth to rot.
it gets little bits of food from out of in between ur teeth,..er its supposed to, ive allways thought it was kinda pointless too, i ust use listerine.
Flossing helps to remove plaque from in between your teeth, in areas that your toothbrush can’t reach. It is not the space between the teeth you are flossing, but the tooth surface. You should floss daily.
Very simple. Flossing cleans between your teeth and helps prevent gum disease, cavities, and bad breath.

Technnique: Take your time and floss between each tooth all the way up under the gumline. Initially, there may be some minor bleeding. That stops when you floss daily.

Ideally, you want to floss at night and again in the morning (to remove deposits that form overnight when you sleep).

Extra tips:
Brush your teeth with a soft toothbrush. Brush for 2 minutes -- 30 seconds on the top outer, 30 seconds on top inner, 30 seconds on bottom outer, and 30 seconds on the bottom inner. Don't scrub. Gently sweep away from the gumline.

I also use a tongue scraper. (I swear by it.) I aim to brush, floss, and scrape my tongue twice a day (morning and night). I always do it once a day but I usually do it twice a day. When I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months, the hygenist does not have to do much scraping -- and there are no cavities.

This will seem like a lot of work initially, but once you make it a habit you will thank yourself 10, 20, 30 years from now. Whoever you kiss will thank you too.
you should floss everyday--trust me it has been proven to be beneficial--search the net for reasons--its not just a quack.
