Is it harder to remove a decayed wisdom tooth?

My teeth are under the gum so i do not know if they are decayed! I am just curious to know?

Answers:
If they are completely covered by the gum, then there are no bacteria present, and therefore no decay.
Sometimes it can hard to be sure if there is complete gum coverage, and the dentist may use a bluntened probe to feel for any opening.
A decayed tooth would be more difficult to remove, as there is less firm tooth structure for the dentist to lever against, hence a greater risk of fracture.
Which is why it is usually best for the dentist and patient if potentially troublesome wizzys are removed sooner rather than later.

It's not so much that it's harder to remove. If it is badly decayed it can break apart which can make it a little more difficult. The bad part is if it is infected. It may take quite a bit more novacaine to try and get the area numb. The novacaine does not work the same or as well if the tissue around the tooth is infected. you would know if this were the case as it would hurt.
The best thing to do is see a dentest, so that an x-ray can be taken. If they are under the gum, they will have to be cut out.
It's usually about the same, as we use a point below the gum for leverage anyhow or we cut the tooth into sections and remove it piece by piece. Note that I said, "USUALLY!"
If they are not poking through yet they are not decayed.
I know it hurts like crazy though.
The dentist can still get them out if they are under there.
I just got signed up for a dental discount plan. It may help some of you out. its at " www.deliveringonthepromis.com/ 40419081"
I think its in most all states, well it tells all about it on the sight.
You could do like me and just let the little boogers come in and ruin your smile.
Wisdom teeth should be removed before they come up because they alter the structure of your teeth and are much more likely to decay. If you didn't have coverage for medical and dental, you may not have been able to afford it. Try getting a plan if you can't afford the surgery. Consult with a dentist for advice. It may be a good idea because they shouldn't be left in the first place. The pain is not worth it.
no..i thought that would be the case because mine was badly decayed and broken, but last friday i had mine removed and it came out with no trouble..he put a lever thing below the gum and popped..before i even knew anything he said done..
