Do they really pull out 4 teeth when you get braces?!?
Someone on one of my questions said they pull out 4 teeth before the process and I'm only 12. I don't want to have to go through THAT!!
Answers:
jeez.no.only if you need them pulled. My sister had a really small jaw and large teeth so they had to pull a couple.but only a couple. I don't think they usually need to. If anything, the 4 teeth would be your wisdom teeth when they come in.but that's a few years from now and they usually put you out for that anway.
They pulled out 4 of my permanent teeth. It didn't hurt for me though.
I was 12 too
Not always, only if you have too many teeth or they need to be repositioned. I had to have my wisdom teeth removed, maybe that is what they are talking about since there are generally four wisdom teeth. Don't worry, they will put you to sleep if they have to pull teeth, you'll be a little sore but you'll have an awesome smile when it's all said and done.
They didn't pull any teeth when I got braces, so not always. Depends on your teeth/mouth.
no
if u teeth r really horrible aligned then they might take them out and if there is no need then they may not do that
ot depends on how ur teeth r aligned
and even if they do take the teeth out its does not hurt they give u this medicine due to which it goes numb and u dont even come to know abt it
They are pulling 6 teeth out (4 wisdom teeth) for my braces.
Can't tell you if it hurts though, i'm getting them pulled in 3 weeks.
I'm not sure if its always four, but my friend is getting braces and he had to pull out some teeth, but I'm not sure how many.
It depends on the size of your mouth. I didn't have any pulled when I got braces. I was 11.
If you're getting teeth pulled, I'd get a second opinion. Extracting teeth is the easy way for the orthodontist but not necessarily the best option for the patient.
The number of teeth to be removed, if any, depends entirely on the problem that is to be corrected.
4 sounds a lot but in reality it is only one pre quadrant ie one, top right, one top left, one lower right, one lower left.
But it is not often 4 teeth that are removed.
Wisdom teeth are not usually removed for orthodontic reasons especially as at aged 12 they are not fully formed.
I work with an orthodontist and she regularly send s me patients to have some teeth removed. Only a few are sent my way for tooth removal and only a few of those need 4 out.
The teeth that are usually removed are premolars which do not have big roots and are fairly easy to remove under local.
If you really do not want any teeth removed I would suggest you discuss it more fully with your orthodontist rather than believing all you read on the internet.
I'm an adult with braces and had no teeth pulled. My daughter had to have 2 baby teeth pulled that would not come out naturally. Pulling teeth is not a big deal. Only your dentist or orthodontist can answer that question. Good luck and take care of your teeth!
no, it really depends how big your mouth is. i had braces and i don't need to pull out any teeth at all but my friend had to pull out 4 teeth. it really depends. you should ask your orthodontist. good luck!
I haven't seen your previous question, so I don't know if you have seen an orthodontist yet.
Not everyone has to have permanent teeth extracted when going through orthodontic treatment. Permanent teeth are extracted if you have severe overcrowding. If you were told by an orthodontist that extractions are recommended, you can always ask him/her if you could get a satisfactory result without the extractions.
Keep in mind that if you are very crowded and don't have teeth extracted that the chance of your teeth relapsing to their former position is greater.
If you do need teeth extracted, it's really not that big a deal. About 30-35% of our patients have their premolars extracted and have beautiful results. And the extraction procedure is not as bad as it sounds.
Hope that answers your question.
