awesome answers.
not really.
The problem is the teeth can't come in properly and they are trying to push through the gum anyway. You friend needs to take some Ibuprofen(Motrin) and call her dentist. They may well have gotten infected, and she will need an antibiotic to take before the teeth can be removed. Ice on her cheek will help with the pain as well. The cure will be to remove the teeth as soon as possible. In the meantime, there's not a lot to do except take pain medications. The dentist should be able to prescribe her something stronger if needed until they can arrange to remove them.
The only way the pain will go away is to have them removed. Call your insurance company first to make sure what they cover. My dental wouldn't cover anything but my medical picked it all up since they were impacted.
Just make sure she's careful not to get dry socket. I had it and it was soooo painful. Good luck!!
wisdom tooth comes out from ages 17-21... how old is your friend? i advise that your friend should go and see her dentist for diagnosis. the first thing they do is oral examination, then xray should be taken to see the position of the erupting 3rd molar. normally we do surgery to some patients where the tooth is horizontally positioned or when its eruption has something to do with the adjacent tooth which is the second molar. usually erupting 3rd molars push the 2nd molar creating pain on the adjacent tooth. better have it removed. the procedure is called odontectomy.
