flossing keeps your gums healthy. if your gums are not healthy its called gingivitis and periodontal disease. your gums will pull away from your teeth and eventually cause bone loss which leads to tooth loss. also bacteria can get between teeth and gums and cause things as serious as heart problems
youre teeth can take many affects also youre gums can. for one you could have teeth decay from roting food between youre teeth also u could have increased bad breath and many fungul problems on youre tung.
You get food particles that accumulate in between your teeth. The accumulation of food are good reservoirs for the bacteria in your mouth to fester and grow. Then the bacteria start feeding on your teeth (i.e. decay). Not only can you get decay but you can begin to develop calculus interpoximally and cause the gums to recede interproximally and get what we call "black triangles" between your teeth. It makes the smile look much older. You only need to floss once a day. Right before you go to bed. If you have really tight contacts, you can use a proxy brush.
You get plaque between your teeth and you get gingivitis.
As you get older you will get more and more gunk build up in your mouth. When I was younger I didn't really need to floss but now I do quite often.
