Has anyone died of pain from wisdom tooth removal?

Never heard of anyone actually dying from pain. don't worry about it though, the doctor will give you some pain medication to help you deal with it. Just stay on schedule with it. Stay ahead of the pain, don't wait til the pain starts.

Wisdom teeth removal is a very common procedure.
Meet with the Oral Surgeon or Dentist, and talk with him/her about the procedure. Write down a list of questions before your visit. Your first visit is a consultation, and you will be able to meet the doctor and speak with him and the staff.
If you're not comfortable with them, don't schedule the procedure. Find another dentist. Word of mouth is usually best.
Each dentist will give you a list of possible problems that you may incur after the procedure.

I understand how you're feeling. I put off having my wisdom teeth extracted for years because i was sooo worried about the pain. Just make sure your dentist knows how apprehensive you are and insist on having general anesthesia (as long as it's safe for you) so you'll be asleep an unaware during the whole thing. You'll have pain for a few days but the dentist will prescribe something for that, and it won't just be the equivalent of a Tylenol, it will be strong enough to even allow you to sleep.
Also, make sure you swish with warm salt water. I'm sure the dentist will tell you to do this. I didn't want to because I couldn't stand it in my mouth, but I finally realized that the pain and swelling was lasting too long and once I started to swish it around my gums it helped a whole lot and cut the swelling by tremendously!
Believe me, you'll be fine. If I got through it (and I'm a huge wuss when it comes to pain!) then you can do it, too! ;)

i had my wisdom teeth out about a week before my 19th birthday because my jaw wasn't big enough for 32 teeth...(not entirely sure it's big enough for 28)...and i'm still alive. i think i was given nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and then i was all novocained up...had a shot of novocaine in each jaw on each side
no you want to feel pain that was nothing compared to my mouth lately. Fri i woke up with a bulge in my cheek I had an abcess and they did a root canel that morning. That was fine but it wouldn't drain so I still have the bulge now THAT hurts.

You sound like my son. He thought he was going to die too.
They put him to sleep, did the extractions, woke him up and we got in the car. On the way home, he decided he was hungry..insisted we stop on the way home at a restaurant to eat. He ordered soup and was sipping away at it while I was visiting with someone. I looked at him, he was sound asleep and his face was in his soup..it was so funny!
I took him home and he napped the rest of the day. That evening his friends came by and out he went.didn't die, no pain pills, and didn't have to go back to the dentist for years!
