I have a mouth infection. I have been put on an antibiotic called Clindamycin Hcl 150mg. How stong is it.?

I've had 2 wisdom teeth extracted on 3/29/06 and i've had nothing but problem everysince. For 3 whole month I told the dentist at a veteran Hospital that I was having problems with my mouth, gums, teeth, chin and lip, but they would not listen to me. they kept telling me that how long it takes for some people. they would not take xrays or give me any anti biotics even after I told them that one of there doctors on staff said that it was probably a secondary infection. They still did nothing but see me once a week and tell me that the pain I was going through and the problems i was having was expected. Don't worry. Well after 3 operation later I am in worst shape that I was in the begining. They say my infection is causing me problems because of an infected bone in my mouth and now they want to do a 4 operation to remove my jaw bone. they may be right? but it took them 3 months to try to find out what the problem was and only because of a dentist on there staff said something?

Clindamycin is one of the strongest antibotics that there is. I was put on it after having a tooth pulled that got infected and it gave me all kinds of problems. I got so sick after I took them that all that i did was throw it up, feel nauseated all of the time and got a yeast infection. They told me that it was because the antibiotic was to strong. The same thing happened to my daughter when she was on them and my mother is having problems right now and she is on them. If you are having problems with them I would suggest that maybe you call the dentist and ask him for an antibiotic that is a little weeker.

Consult your doctor/dentist.
Clindamycin is an "atom bomb" antibiotic, generally rserved for more severe infections. It sounds like you have osteomyelitis and all I can say is good luck.
