What happens when a side of a
tooth breaks off?

Answers:
See a dentist.

great big owee! and a trip to the dentist for a root canal and crown.which are always so much fun..if this has happened to you, best of luck!!
Mostly you expose the nerve and it is very painful. If there is enough of the tooth left, that is still well seated in the mouth, they'll be able to do a crown that will leave you looking as good as new. Hope you have dental insurance to cover it though.
It falls of first and then a big pain sh*t comes out. It really badly hurts but you should see a dentist first before you even touch it. How did you do it? I did it somehow by chewing gum, then clank and 1/2 of my tooth is out
i have two 'half teeth' due to accidentally biting my tongue piercing. this happened about 6yrs ago now and i have had no bother whatsoever with them. i suppose it will depend on which tooth is affected though. chack with your dentist though. (if you can find one)!
There is no enamel on that part of the tooth and it will be more susceptible to cavities and decay. It will also be more sensitive to heat and cold. If you don't have dental insurance, you could get some with descent coverage, wait a week and call and tell them it just happened. Then cancel it afterward if you can't afford it. I think that might be illegal, but it's not illegal for me to give you the idea.
Nothing good can result from having a broken tooth, whether you are in pain or not. A break in the tooth will likely expose the pulp and put you in a lot of pain. Even if it is a shallow break, it is still exposed to the food and bacteria and you are putting yourself at risk for decay and further breakage of the tooth. If you do have a broken tooth see your dentist as soon as you can.
