"Laughing Gas" and the anesthetic needle.?

Im 15 and I was in a car accident when I was 3 and became paralyzed, so you can probably guess I have been like... terrified of needles ever since. Doesnt matter what kind of needle it is, I hate them all.I found out I had a few cavities. And im afraid of the needle pinch when I get my cavities filled. So if I get "laughing gas", will I still feel the needle pinch? How much would I feel it?

You could look for a dentist who can do conscious oral sedation. You don't need an IV - you have someone bring you to the dental office and the dentist administers a pill which keeps you in a conscious state (ie - you are not under general anesthetic or "knocked out" and when he says "turn your head, open wider" etc you respond and cooperate somewhat, however once the effects of the sedative wears off you have no memory of the procedure and no pain while under the sedation. Your vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate) are monitored the whole time. This is a new frontier in dentistry and a lot of dentists won't use it for patients under 18 yrs but you may want to call around or go to 1800-dentists to find a good match.
Nitrous Oxide will make you not care if you are getting a needle and you won't feel it
You can also ask your dentist for a tranquilizer to take before you have your dental work done..
yes you will still feel it! It is not that bad though its over so quickly. I am terrified of needles also and I have found a dentist that does intravenous sedation which is a miracle. You do have to deal with the IV going into your arm but your knocked out so soon you won't even remember. You don't feel any of the needles in your mouth or any of the drilling. Its great!
If you get N2O, you probably won't need a needle as it's a general anaesthetic which'll totally knock you out.
they use a topical rub on that will help with the pinch. I wasn't given the "gas" until after the numbing injection was given. Inform the Staff that you are this concerned. they have ways of making it easier on you. My dentist hid the needles from me from the time I was a child until I was in my mid 20's. I never saw what she was sticking me with until I moved away from home.
