Root canal or wisdom teeth removal? Which one brings THE PAIN?
Answers:
There is often a lot of pain before a root canal is performed, and usually not much if any afterwards because the nerve of the tooth is removed during a root canal. We always prescribe pain medication after wisdom teeth removal, especially if they were impacted or a difficult time was had getting the teeth to come out. But again, if you apply ice 20 minutes on/20 minutes off you might not have any swelling and then take it easy for a day or two and it may not hurt at all. But, as far as painful procedures go, wisdom teeth definitely have the ability to cause the most pain during the actual procedure due to the complications that might arise such as being fused to the bone, or having part of a badly decayed tooth break off and having to retrieve it in the gum tissue. also, we have recommended people be put under a twilight sleep for difficult extractions, whereas we have never had to do it for a root canal. Finally, the healing process and often the stitches that are needed to close a surgical extraction can be uncomfortable as well, so I would definitely say wisdom teeth. As a side note tho, I had 3 pulled at once and I was fine afterward so it is not always that bad!
Wisdom teeth, mine were impacted. Ouch, so much pain!
Both.
ROOT CANAL
definitely wisdom teeth removal.
Both you have to have surgery for them.
my root canal wasn't painful at all,but i backed out of having my wisdom tooth done I'm such a wus.
Having had both, I'd have to say wisdom teeth removal.
The root canal wasn't exactly fun, but it wasn't nearly as horrific as I'd been led to believe. Only slightly more painful than having a tooth filled. The real pain with a root canal starts when you get the bill!
Wisdom teeth, mine were laying sideways pushing them all togather
I don't know about root canal's but i just had 6 teeth removed in less then 24hrs ago (4 wisdom teeth, 2 where impacted and laying sideways) and 2 extra on top! and the only pain if feel is tenderness in my jaw, no throbbing, not much swelling, i would says on a scale of 1-10 (1 being not painful and 10 being excrutiating) i'm a 1.5, so it's not bad at all.
