I'm HIV+ and need to see a dentist. Where can I go?
Answers:
i (and every other dentist) treat every patient like they have hiv so it's no big deal. you do need to tell the dentist about it so they can keep a close eye on you. your mouth will be the first place to show signs that your disease is progressing.
and no, they aren't going to put on an extra set of gloves.
Nobody can refuse you because of your HIV and if they do that's discrimination. Go where your comfortable sweetie and God Bless You.
Considering every time a dentists works on your teeth they wear gloves, I think that they would give you service. When you call a dentists, you should probably mention it anyways.
no dear, there wont be specific dentists to handle HIV patients. the regular ones do that but its ur responsibility to inform it to the doctor before hand. but dont worry as dentist discards his gloves after every examination.
you can go to any dentist you like/prefer,but just tell them that you are HIV + so that they can take they can use an extra set off gloves.,good luck and take care!
Just inform ur dentist that ur HIV + and he has no choice but to work on ur teeth. He can't discriminate against you! They have to treat each patient as tho they are HIV+ anyways, Just as they do in any surgery or any other procedures!! I think the general public knows the surgeons ,dentist etc have all performed procedures on HIV + patients! Don't u worry about it, u won't have any problems with it and if u do than you'll end up owning the place!!
In Canada it's the law that all patients must be treated equally. The only thing you have to do is inform them that you have HIV and they will take the precautions. I'm sure it's like that in the states too.
No there aren't any specific dentists who do this.
You could go to a normal dentist.
In the beginning that you go to the dentist, you have to fill out a form that has some diseases printed on it and you have to check the ones you have.
And now a days most dentists open new equipment for each patient and they usually throw it out or send it to recycle or something after they use it.
