well for me it was a couple hours. Also every time I get them tightened, I just feel pressure when the put them on,but they don't hurt, but then a couple hours later it starts to hurt...really bad. but don't worry. The pain only lasts a couple of days and then you feel back to normal. Good Luck with your braces!
oh just wait youll be in hell in a little while...lol.. they suck i know. The first nights the worst...then they're sensitive for about a week then they're better...
It all depends on how tight your wires are and how sensitive your mouth is. My braces never once hurt. I let them tighten them on a faster schedule than normal and I finished almost a year early. I was supposed to have them for two and a half years and had them for one year and eight months. So they may hurt, they may not; its all a matter of how sensitive your mouth and teeth are, and your pain tolerance.
I had braces for 5 years... My teeth felt sore a few hours afterwards. also, after the first few days, i got sores on my lips and cheeks from the braces rubbing up against them. It's normal and u can get wax for the brackets that will help with those and some types of gels will work as well. You might find that biting into certain foods will hurt... ie: apples, or other hard foods. simply cut them up and take small bites. You also might find that you'll speak with a lisp. It'll go away after a while :-) in the end, it's all worth it! so take good care of them! best of luck! :-D
usually a few hours after they're tightened. sometimes they won't start hurting 'til the next morning you wake up. but you get more used to it the longer you have 'em.
They are going to start in a few hours. And it is going to hurt really badly tonight and for a couple more weeks. Your teeth need to get adjusted to the tightened feeling. It is going to be hard to eat(bite) and this will emphasize the pain even more. Try to consume liquids and semi solids. Nothing too hard. Hang in there, and you will be fine. Good Luck
