Is it me or does deep scaling really hurt?

Deep Scaling is never fun, but it does not need to be as painful as some dentists and hygienists make it. When discussing it with them, insist on being completely and positively numbed up! Sometimes it seems like they think they are running short on the anaesthetic! Are they going to do the deep scaling with hand instruments or do they plan on using the cavitron? go with the cavitron if given a choice!!

during you had to be numb, if it was still painful, you should have told the Dr.
after it is normal for gums t be sore... salt water rinses should help them heal faster.
