Does anyone know if there is an orthodontist in Rockford who will accept a medical card?

Check the website below. That's the dental administration site for, among others, the state of IL. (ILDPA or IL Dept of HFS.)
Ortho in IL is really difficult to qualify for. They are looking for a "severe handicapping malocclusion which effects your eating, speaking, or breathing." On the Salzman, you have to score a 42 or above. It's nearly impossible.
It doesn't hurt to at least try to get authorized. The ortho will not make models if he/she thinks you won't qualify, but can send in the scoring sheet. Either way, don't be surprised if you see an ortho who just says there is nothing they can do for you.
