Is dental x-ray dangerous? How many times could a person take dental x-ray tests before any side effects?

I've been wanting to get some braces and many orthodontists want to take a full scale x-ray performed on me.

The website I provided below has specific questions and answers regarding radiation dose. These questions are answered by qualified medical personnel. Here is what I found:

"The radiation dose to a patient from a full set of dental radiographs is quite small, equivalent to what each American receives from natural environmental (background) radiation in a few days."

"Dental x-ray exposures do not expose your ovaries to any reproductive, clinically significant dose of radiation. When you receive a diagnostic x ray study of your head, teeth, chest, arms, or legs at a qualified facility, the exposure of the x rays is not to your ovaries. The "scatter" that might reach the ovaries would be extremely small and would not represent an increased risk for birth defects or miscarriage in a future pregnancy. Your ovaries did not receive a dose that would result in any measurable increased reproductive risk."

only for pregnant women
just don't get more than like 3 xrays to the head every year and you should be fine.
Too many of any x-ray is harmful. Don't worry unless you've had like a million dental x-rays
Dental x-rays are taken so infrequently that you won't have any chance of being harmed. Go ahead, get your braces. This is a fear you need not have.
It would probably take about 10 million dental x-rays to cause a health problem. Dont worry about it.
The type of x-ray you're describing is called a panoramic x-ray. This will give the orthodontist a full facial picture to see exactly what work will need to be done to straighten your teeth. The amount of radiation in any type of x-ray is minimal, but every dr. takes precautions.

There really isn't anything to worry about.
As long as you put that heavy cover on, you'll be fine, pregnant or not. I have been to the dentist several times while pregnant and it was not a problem.
the amount of x rays you're subjected to during a routine x ray, even one of your whole body, isn't going to affect you, or at least there is such a small chance that it could, that its a risk worth taking to have good teeth. The doctor goes behind the lead screen because a lifetime of exposure is bad, but unless you're getting x rays taken dozens of times per year, I wouldn't worry.
i might be wrong but im pretty sure it can mess up your brain because of the radiation waves thats why they put that heavy apron thing on you. i dont know how many you can get w/ out getting side effects i recomend asking your dentist about that. i hope i coud help!! :~p
Did you know that you are exposed to more than average radiation when you take a plane? 4 dental x-rays are about the equivalent of a round trip flight from NYC to LA - you never hear of people being concerned about "flight radiation" - and the lead is just a precaution - why expose more of you than necessary?

so- go to the orthodontist, close your eyes and get your full mouth x-rays with confidence that you're making a great investment for your dental future!
Dental x-rays would have to be taken on you multiple times a day for years to cause damage. I hear people all the time saying not to get dental x-rays cause they cause all sorts of problems. I have been taking x-rays on patients myself for years and if they were that bad I and numerous other assistants would have developed problems just being around them every day. You get more radiation around your microwave or spending a hot, sunny day outside. Besides, most dentists won't procede with treating a patient: ie. fillings, crowns, root canals, braces, without current x-rays.
Don't worry, you get to have a lead jacket, so your organs will be protected. Only bone shows through the x-ray.

I've had more full body x-rays and x-rays of just my mouth more times than I can count in the past 5 years. I have no side effects.
