My wife is a gum addict. However when she consumes aspartame it blurs her vision. (no kidding) She switched from Doublemint To Spearmint. Now they have put the aspartame in Spearmint as well.

I totally agree. Aspartme is a poison. They put it in b/c it remains sweet and they can advertise it as being "Sugar Free", which it is.
Your best choice is to find gum that uses Xylitol, it is a natural sweetner that has even been shown to reduce plaque and gingivitis
