how long does local anesthetic last?
i just had my wisdom teeth removed about 4 hours ago, and one side of my face has come back to normal (no longer numb for over an hour) but the otherside is still COMPLETELY NUMB. should i be worried?? how much more longer should i wait before getting worried?
i've had local anesthetic done before, and it's never lasted this long before.
thank you in advance.
Answers:
generally local anaesthetic last for 45min.to 6hrs so i don't think there is any need to worry .if after 6 hrs u don't feel comfortable speak to ur doctor.
I've had it last as long as 2-4 hours.
Give it a couple more hours and you start feeling better.
was just under it 2day..i woke up after 2 hours
Depends on the drug.
1% Lidocaine will last four to six hours
2% Lidocaine will last a little longer
Sensorcaine will last even longer..
my local to paralyse the eye seemed to fade almost immediately
I know that there are many types of novicane and each type lasts for a different amount of time. Anotherwords, some are stronger than others and last longer. Perhaps he injected you with two different types - maybe there was a reason for that.
It varies from person to person..but from side to side? Give your dentist a quick call and ask.
No need to worry.your body also produces chemicals to ease the pain, so your body may be taking care of that particular side for you. Local anaesthetics typically last 3-4 hours for that particular procedure.
No anaesthetic lasts forever, so relax. Once you feel the pain, you'll wish it would last forever though :-)
first off all, sorry you..I feel for you.wisdom teeth are really something else.he must have zapped you real good.take some pain killer now and wait until tonight.if its not ok by tonight he must have hit a nerve in the face.hap pends allot..also don't forget a little ice wrapped in a towel.I could not go back to work afterward, my face was so swollen black and blue the next day and my eyes almost shut..like someone had beat me up.lol good luck to ya.
If it doesn't get any better by tomorrow, contact the person that applied the anesthesia, and the person that pulled your teeth out if they are not the same person.
