My teeth seem to be going transparent at the edges. I thought they were stained, but they are not.?

I am 45 years old, and maybe this is an age thing, I don't know. Is there any supplement, or vitamin that may help? Does anyone know what causes this. My teeth have been good all my life.

My dentist told me about this, it is a problem where the enamel on your teeth wears away, especially at the edges of your teeth. It can be caused by acid erosion or grinding your teeth together (a lot of people do this in their sleep without realising). I am not sure if there is a cure, although I did recently see a new toothpaste advertised (I'm pretty sure it was Sensodyne) which was specifically for teeth that were becoming transparent.
i used to be a dental nurse this sounds like a lack of calcium so the edges of your teeth become (transparent) do u find your teeth are sensative?? hot or cold?? start brushing your teeth with sensodyne and it will bring them back and start drinking more milk hope this helps nat
I think it sounds like enamel loss, you had better visit the dentist. There are also some special toothpastes you can buy to help.
You might be having osteoporosis that is depletion of bones due to lack of calcium at this age it is very common in female a little bit low in male. Start taking calcium + Vit D. In market if you find oyster cell calcium with vit D than it will be best because oyster cell calcium has 10 times more elemental calcium than any other. Also try to roam in open at the time of sun rise. You can stay in Sun till it Emmit's color of fire.
I'm a dental nurse and to me this sound's like the enamel on your teeth is wearing away, i have this problem on my front teeth, and i was advised to stop drinking so many acid drinks, such as fizzy drinks and aacidic foods, this is mostly fruit, has hard as this is to believe oranges are very cidic and wear away the enamel which is why your teeth are going transparent, fresh orange juice can also cause this!
hope this has helped you
Hi, I am not a dentist but I have been reading a lot about teeth recently and it sounds like your tooth enamel got dissolved at the edges and you need to remineralise them by eating foods that are high in minerals. Please note: supplements don't work because they are ingested and in order to remineralise teeth the minerals have to be IN your mouth and mixed with saliva, i.e. by chewing mineral-rich foods. Dr Robert Nara's book Money by the Mouthful would benefit greatly, I recommend it to anyone who cares about their teeth and who wants to be dentally self sufficient.
acid erosion is what causes this. ever seen that advert for that colgate toothpaste that helps prevent acid erosion on teeth? i dont know if it works but i suggest trying it. also cut out foods with lots of acidicy in it lke drinks particlaurly qrange squash, its so high in sugar. apparently eating lots of apples and orange may cause this, as they have lots of natural sugars in them, however every1 is always trying to tell every1 to eat more of this kind of food, so it is a bit of a viscious circle im afraid, definitaly suggest going to your dentist too, to see if they can suggest anything else. hope this helps
Thinning of the enamel.
There is no cure for this as the teeth do not renew themselves so when its gone, its gone. it is not dangerous and is probably due to your age. If the problem gets really bad then you may have to get your teeth capped or removed.
