How would you perform an experiment to find out which mouthwash kills the most oral bacteria?
Answers:
One way would be to do smears on agar plates of the mouth after using a saline rinse or no rinse at all and after using various mouth washes on different days. You could compare colony counts of bacteria this way after a few days incubation.
Or you could use cultures of common oral bacteria and add small amounts of mouthwash to liquid cultures and after incubation determine how well they killed bacteria in vitro.
Using actual specimens from the mouth would be more reflective of actual results, though.
well ask your dentice it might know !!
Read the bottle, the higher the ETOH, ( alcohol) content the better for killing oral bacteria. Be careful most Dentist recommend using mouthwash once a day as it kills good bacteria as well as bad.
Not brush your teeth all day, eat the same foods, and then take a swab of your cheek cells, and put them on an agar plate. then wash ur mouth out with the mouthwash and take another swab. do this for each mouthwash and see which agar plate has least bateria on it
