I had a composite bonding done, and it was pretty close to the nerve. I feel excruciating pain when it comes into contact with heat or cold. Dentist says that it does not require a root canal, the pain is sometimes present. What could it be? and how do i make it not hurt? because i cant eat nor drink wnything!

Sensitivity is common after having a filling placed, especially a deep one. However, pain to heat and constant throbbing, or dull aching is usually a sign that the nerve is inflamed or dying.
Though the tooth may not have appeared to need a root canal at the time of filling placement it does not mean that the tooth does not need one now. Sometimes when large fillings are placed close to the nerve the trauma can cause the nerve to react, become inflamed, and eventually die.
Return to the dentist and let him/ her know your symptoms and re-evalutate the condition of the tooth.
