Any home remedies for serious toothache until I can get to the dentist?
Answers:
You can take 4 motrin at one time. That is 800mg and works better than most narcotics. We use to tell our patients to do that and it always worked for them.
Clove oil (very cheap and over the counter) can make a tooth and gum numb for a while, but it also makes your tongue numb. If you're absolutely broke and can't afford dental care, you might want to pull it, as abscesses can become pretty bad.
Copious amounts of Jack Daniels should do the trick.
Cloves. Either the oil or take a seed, chew it a bit just so it's broken open and stick it along the gum where the tooth hurts.
Or Ambesol which is found in any drug store.
A pain reliever.
A strong one at that.
Depending on the toothache soups or ice creams could help.
The soup makes it easiero n your mouth and the ice cream and chill your mouth, but you'll have to brush your teeth if you use the ice cream.
Get some ambesol & use it as often as you need. Place it actually ON the tooth, as well as on the surrounding areas. Also, IBprofin (Advil) will bring down the inflamation & offer you some relief as well. You might be able to get an antibiotic shipped out which will get the infection under control; just call up your regular dentist & explain your symptoms. If you have an abcess, it should be treatable w/ a antibiotic. I hope this helped!
There is a pressure point on your hand which will block sensation to the mouth.
It's in the meaty part at the base of the thumb.
Wiggle your thumb, and locate the joint closest to your wrist.
Squeeze it hard, keep squeezing it, wait a minute, and the pain will go away.
This is only helpful if you are willing to squeeze your hand constantly, but I hope it helps a bit.
When I had a bad toothache, I kept ice in my mouth and drank ice water.
