How to cope with 'Geographic Tongue'?

I have suffered for 10 years, I don't know what triggers an attack but am fed up with it now as episodes can last weeks and are often very sore. Would like to hear from fellow suffers or anybody who can offer info or advice

Answers:
Geographic tongue is described as a psoriasiform mucositis. At the periphery, elongation of the rete ridges is noted with associated hyperparakeratosis and acanthosis. Toward the center of the lesion, corresponding to the erythematous area clinically, loss of filiform papillae with migration and clustering of neutrophils within the epithelium (Munro abscesses) is seen. The predominant inflammatory infiltrate in the lamina propria is neutrophils with an admixture of chronic inflammatory cells.

Medical Care: No medical intervention is required because the lesion is benign and most often asymptomatic.

Consultations: Consultation with an oral pathologist is indicated if a question exists about the diagnosis.

It's a bit heavy on the lingo, Sorry!!

Found a little bit more here. Unfortunately, there is no treatment. Sometimes treatments for thrush can ease the discomfort. You can buy these at the chemist, eg miconazole gel. It will never become cancerous, but you will have to learn to live with it. You will need to work out for yourself which foods make it worse and avoid them.

from what i understand you just have to suck it up
Adelle Davis in Let's Get Well says it is the result of serious multiple nutritional deficiencies, which she then lists. Try a good multiple vitamin-mineral supplent, with an additional B50 complex tablet daily. Improve your diet to make it as healthy as possible.
Progress to recovery may be slow, so be patient. Read the book!
If anything, "Stress Formula" vitamins, containing higher doses of B and C vitamins MIGHT help. Geographic tongue is generally thought to be without pain, though. I wonder why your hurts. Maybe it's candida?
In my experience most cases of geographic tongue are not that painful but the occasional one is.

Usually it is to do with foodstuffs, especially acidic food such as oranges or tomato ketchup.

If it is painful spontaneously then you need to get it rechecked that it is geographic tongue.
