I have a habit of eating/chewing ice.is this bad for my teeth?
If so, how much damage does it do, and what type? Over how long a period would it take for damage (if it occurs) to become serious enough to require dental work?
Thanks!

Chewing ice isn't a health hazard but it can damage your pearly whites. Be real careful! your teeth can crack on their weak points or the sharpness of your teeth will be diminished by the grinding of the ice which can cause flat molars. The worst that can happen is cracking a tooth which can be taken care of by getting a filling, veneers, or a crown depending on the damage. Worst case scenerio is that you crack your tooth so bad that it needs to get a Root Canal because the crack reached the nerve or really close to the nerve. I don't mean to scare you but this is just the cold truth!! good luck!
it is soooooooooooooooooo bad it is awful u had never heard doctors beg ppl not to drink so hot n so cold
It can chip them and you will need dental work
Try doing a BJ with ice in your mouth.
I THINK ITS VERY NORMAL AND YOUR TEETH WILL BE JUST FINE
No.
Unless u hav seals or braces
don't know if it is bad for your teeth but I have heard that the need and urge to eat ice is an iron deficiency.you should check it out, you may have iron poor blood
It really is quite bad for your teeth. Ice is really hard, and when chewed it compresses food and plaque down in the smallest cracks in your teeth. That makes it much harder for you to get that stuff out when brushing. When you cannot get that compacted trash out of your teeth, then it begins to cause cavities. Over time this can lead to tooth decay. It is not something that will happen if you are an occasional ice chewer, but if all day everyday you should stop.
Yes, it is very hard on your teeth. You may want to find out if you're anemic. This can cause you to want to chew ice.
I have been eating Ice everyday since I was 11. Im 21 now and my teeth are a mess, just my molars the ice has really damaged them!
