How can I stop a sensitive tooth from hurting? It aches every night.?
I've tried toothpaste for sensitive teeth but it doesn't help.

I am assuming you have been to the dentist, pain is usually a warning sign. There are some new toothpaste for sensitive teeth out there, you can also try sore throat sprays, teething gel, and clove oil. Over the counter pain relievers might help. If it is an upper tooth that is hurting, it might be caused by your sinuses,so you might want to try a decongestant. Talk to your dentist if nothing works.
You may have nerve damage or an exposed nerve; see the dentist, as alot of people with this need root canals or teeth pulled.
Go to your dentist and tell him your problem. He may find that you have a cavity or that there is another problem with your tooth.
Rinse with salty water
See your dentist
Ora-gel might work for you for a while. It's not expensive and you can get it at any drugstore or Target, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, etc. If you've had this for some time, though, you should probably get it looked at. It won't get any better on its own.
Chew well a clove in the morning, afternoon and night. Do not worry about discoloration. Teeth come back to normal color with hydrogen peroxide mouth wash.
i don't know much about teeth but i guess u could call your dentist, take some advil, motren, or tylenal. you should also try and stay away from all the sweet stuff. keep using that sensititivity tooth paste and rinse your mouth out w/ warm salt water about 3 times a day if u can. salt water is very soothing. yiur tooth may b hurting cuz it's been chiped or something and if thats the case, u may want 2 contact your doctor. Like i said, i don't know very much about teeth but i hope this helps! Hope u feel better soon! lol
Let me assume that the pain comes when you lay down to go to sleep and not simply because the sun has gone down.
I'll bet you have an abscess. This is almost diagnostic. If you have inflammation in an area, there is more blood flow to that area. If you place that same area lower than the rest of your body, there will be even more blood in the area. This makes the area start to throb. Think about it. If you sprain your ankle, you are supposed to sit or lie down and elevate your foot to keep the excess blood from accumulating there because it would cause throbbing. If you are passing out because your nervous system has prepared you for "fight or flight" by dilating all of your peripheral vessels, which deprives your brain of blood, you are supposed to lie down with your head lower than your body to restore blood flow to the brain.
If someone has an abscess and I have just started a root canal or if they are going on antibiotics for a few days before I remove the tooth, I tell them to sleep on an extra pillow to elevate their head. If that doesn't work, they can move to a recliner or the sofa so they can keep their head really elevated. This will minimize the blood flow to the area and therefore minimize the throbbing and pain.
