i need to know?

ok i am 18 and have had a retainer type thing for the past to years and the dentist never really told me why i needed it so what could be reason that i needed it . Extra info about me i had braces at age 15 till age 17

I was for your braces. After you get your braces off there is a chance that your teeth will shift and become crooked again. This happens alot of times when your wisdom teeth are coming it. The retainer keeps your teeth in the same position so they won't shift and become all crooked, because if they do, it just defeated the whole point of braces. Hope I helped!

Exactly what the girl above me said. Keep usin that retainer until ur dentist doc says so, so u can have those perty straight teeth..!
It just helps very little. My orthodontist said the only way to keep them from shifting at all, is to get a permanent retainer cemented in. I just wear my 2 retainers to bed, a few times a week. One tooth has shifted very little, but you can't tell at all. But, overall it does good :)
