Good news! I had mine removed a few weeks ago, and am still really cheerful that I don't have to clean around them anymore.

They start by removing the elastics and wires, then they use pliers to remove the brackets. There is a bit of pressure on your teeth when they do this, but it doesn't hurt. The only bit I found uncomfortable was when they scraped off some of the glue - again, it doesn't hurt, but they do have to press on your teeth a bit.

Overall, though, much less painful than having them on!

Then they take an impression of your mouth, like they did at the beginning, to make your retainers. I would really recommend that you wear them as you should - I had braces when I was younger (I'm 26 now) and didn't wear my retainers enough, and some of the teeth did move back. Retainers are no way near as bad as train tracks - you can take them out to eat and if you're going out on a special occasion you can leave them off.

Good luck, and enjoy your new smile!
No, it's brilliant!
it will involve several litres of blood loss, passing out and eventual death

good luck
Mine didn't hurt at all, it just felt well weird... strangely loose because you don't have nothing there it just feels completely odd... lovely feeling though!! Enjoy!
Wont take a minute to take them off. It will feel really weird and as if your lips dont fit your mouth. it shouldnt be sore and you will have what are called retainers fitted on the same day as your brace taken off. these are like a see-through gum shield and you must wear these as much as you possibly can to stop your teeth moving. My son's orthodontist recommended that he keeps wearing his on and off forever but they only lasted a couple of weeks as he was fed up of messing about and just wanted to have nothing in his mouth after two years of proper traintracks (top and bottom) over his teeth. By the way, hes now got a beautiful set of gnashers. Good luck and remember to look after your teeth after all your hard work.
No, it does not hurt. The dentist takes off the rubberbands, then the wires, then pulls the brackets off. It is completely painless and done within a few minutes.
Not to worry the process takes less than 15 minutes. I had mine for 3 years, didn't hurt much at all, and the results were marvelous. All they do is use some small metal hooks and things to remove the braces. You will not be too sore, they are a lot less sore when they remove them than when they put them on.
Ciao.
Good you asked this question
