I had a tooth pulled and it feels like there is still a piece in the gum. what should i do? its painful?

Answers:
see the dentist

judge your mouth after a week

You maybe feeling jaw bone & or stitches

gargle with warm salt water
This is probably scar tissue developing. Give it 7-10 days after the procedure and see if you still continue to have this issue. If so, call your dentist.
Go back to the dentist that pulled and tell him it feels like there's still part of it left in there.
Depending u[pon your age, it could be another, or you could be lucky and getting another. Also you might check with you dentist to see if it is.
It's gonna feel funky for a while...it might just be a stitch...give it time to heal and see how it feels then...you might have piece of a root still in your gum and yes if that's the case you'll have to have your dentist remove it
gently rinse with salt water and do not tamper with it.
We had this from time to time in the surgery. People would think there was tooth still in the gum. It is actually 99.9% of the time bone and all you can do is if it is bothering you, go back and the dentist might take that piece out but usually it corrects itself. The mouth is a fast healing area of the body.
Please check back with your dentist. My husband had a tooth pulled and he felt the same thing. He kept telling me there is still something in there. I thought he was crazy. He kept digging at the hole for days until finally he came out of the bathroom one day and said " Look i told you" and sure enough it was a huge piece of tooth that was left in the hole. So dont hesitate, look into it.
It is probably a piece of bone. This happens frequently after an extraction. They will usually come out on their own, but if it is really bothering you go back to your dentist and have him remove it for you. It is simple for them to do and easier than you trying to remove it. They can also check the extraction site and make sure it is healing adequately and that you aren't developing a dry socket.
