Should I be scraping my toungue everyday?
Answers:
Yes you need to scrape your tongue. The matter isnt about food particles, but bacteria. Your mouth is a bacteria ladden environment. Within minutes of brushing your teeth and killing al the bacteria in your mouth, new ones will begin to colonize. It takes roughly 8 hours for these bacteria to group together and secrete a protective barrier called plaque. This plaque keeps saliva and mouthwash from reaching and harming the bacteria. While protected by the plaque, the bacteria will sit and secrete acid which will eat away at your teeth and bone. The only way to remove this protective plaque layer is with physical touch (ie. brushing). Now bristles cant go everywhere. If you dont floss, it's like never brushing in between the teeth. Plaque will build up here in about 8 hours just like everywhere else. That's why it's a good idea to brush and floss about 3 times a day. You tongue is like the bathroom rug. It will just sit there and collect bacteria. While the bacteria here cannot harm the tongue other than foul odor, it can easily spread to other parts of the mouth from here. That's why it's a good idea to break up the plaque there too brushing. For this same reason, brush your palate and your cheeks. While mouthwash does not damage teeth from acid, it does contain alcohol. This alcohol can damage normal tissue in your mouth, and cause cancer with prolonged use. While mouthwash will kill all bacteria in the mouth, it cannot reach the bacteria under the plaque, and even the bacteria that it does kill will just recolonize within minutes. Bottom line is mouthwash is mostly good to freshen your breath for a little while. Most important is to break up that plaque by brushing and flossing. Hope this helps!
tongue scraping is essential because there are some unwanted food stucked on the tongue. as for mouthwash, actually it is better not to use mouthwash everyday, because it has alot of acid in it, the acid kills the germs, but at the same time actually corrode the teeth, even though it is not obvious. as for flossing, don't floss everyday, once every two days is enough, because constant flossing can actually cause the teeth to have gap.
As long as you brush your tongue when brushing your teeth (morning and night) and floss daily you should be ok..
yes you need to scrape your tongue everyday to remove food particles. if you dont these food particles will attract bacteria and your mouth will smell bad!! mouth wash is only going to camouflage the bad smell.the floss only removes food residue stuck in between your teeth.
