Dentist charges in hospitals in the UK?

Hi, I need my wisdom teeth taking out, I have heard that if I can get referred directly to the hospital for the procedure then it will be done for free and if I get it done at the dentist they will charge about £200? Does anyone know if I can get it done for free at the hospital?

Answers:
It would be done for free if you were referred to a NHS hospital but there would have to be a need to be referred.

I had mine done in hospital as they were very impacted, they had not even broken through the gum as there was not room for them. The dentist said there was no way they could be taken out without a general anaesthetic.
the dentist will still get paid but not by you
You can contact the NHS dental hospital direct and make an appointment and you will get it done for free
If you have it done at hospital is will be free as it will be on the NHS, you may have to wait around 18 months though. I'm having mine done privately and its costing me £508 but i know i won't catch MRSA from the scummy hospitals and it will be finished by 12th April (already had 2 out next 2 are next week.) Good luck!
PS don't be scared it didn't hurt a bit!
sorry i don't know much about it but one of my freind had visited India for dental and ayurveda treatment which seemed to be good , he was saying had a good holiday as well as got my treatment done , and costed not much .My freind visited through a group called saroma .heard they work on health tourism .any way have check.
you can get it done for free at your hospital dental department as the work is done by students, don't let this worry you as they are supervised 100% and they are in their final year.
only if your dentist cannot remove them you will get referred to the hospital the dentist will look to see how far they've grown before deciding and the work involved but i do hope he tells you that you need to have them removed in hospital as it costs so much .otherwise .it is free and the hospital and the antibiotics they give you in case of infection .its over £200 as well as the dentists have to cut and stitch . good luck to you .
