Canker sores?
Answers:
First, have you seen your doctor or dentist?
Please do so if you haven't already, as they may be able to prescribe a topical ointment that will help relieve the pain and speed healing time.
They can also tell you what is causing them. Many things cause canker sores, and they are usually viruses like colds or influenza, and may be aggravated by allergies or sinus problems.
I am a nursing student, and have never heard of canker sores being "hereiditary". No, you will not "grow out of it", but you may become less likely to get them as you grow older because your immune system will mature.
For the time being, I would advise a salt water rinse:
dissolve 1/4 tsp of sea salt(table salt is okay if you don't have sea salt) in 8oz. of warm water and swish in mouth for at least 30 seconds(count slowly to 30), then spit(don't swallow!) Do this four times per day at least(should be every 3-4 hours while awake), and you may feel a little better. Stop if it feels like it's too irritating, and see your doc or dentist soon!
Hope you feel better.
it sounds like a first time outbreak of oral herpes. my daughter had her first outbreak when she was 2 and it was horrible. the first time is usually the worst.she now can go a full year without any canker sores, but ironically has a bad one right now in the crease of her mouth.
hopefully after this bad outbreak, you will see fewer and fewer of them.
Canker sores are actually a form of herpes. There is no cure for it, but you can get medicine from a doctor to get them to go away. I would say Abreva would work, except that they're in your throat! A lot of people have oral herpes, all you can do is be very careful with your mouth when you have outbreaks. If you kiss or share food/drink with someone during an outbreak you are putting them at risk. Very contagious! I know people that have gotten it from a bubbler!
