braces questions..?

Im 16 and I just got braces a couple of days ago. My orthodontist uses the damon system, so I dont have to have them as long as normal braces. He said I will have them for 1.5 years. I was wondering if you had braces and if you had them on as long as they told you that you would, or longer? Also how long do your teeth hurt after you get them? Thanks!

They usually get kept on longer then the doctor says, and the pain will most likely go away in 2-3 days just eat a lot of soft food.

Chicks with braces are hot - keep them on forever!
Its an estimate, and my dentist's was right. Now They only hurt for the first week or less.
i have braces and i dont know if they will be off when they say but what i do know is that my pain lasted about two weeks it was horrible i couldn't eat anything. but after that everything is all good
I had my braces on for two years. They are sore after they tighten them each time, but it is all worth it after you get them off. I really loved my braces. Good Luck!
I had them for a little over 2 years (I was told 18-24 months.) My teeth were pretty bad so mine hurt for teh entire first 5 months, and then usually for a week after each tightening, to the point where I couldn't bite into foods with my front teeth.

Most of my friends said they only hurt for a week or so.
my be u can tell me im gett some on tuesday this week n im 15 goin on 16 (sept 26)... the spacers hurt for a few dayz so i think tha brace brakets might hurt 4 a week or so...maybe. me up if u can

your teeth are gonna be sore for a couple of days, but as you get used to braces the time period they're sore will keep lessening. for the first few times they can hurt any amount of time from about 3 days to a whole week but by the 7th or 8th tightenin it'll only be the day you get them tightend. and it always depends how fast your teeth move whether or not they stay on for the whole 2 years or not
i still have them but i will stiil have them on for another 2 years. (3 years in all.) for your second Q they dont even hurt. they're just a little sensative for 2-3 days.

Usually yes, you do have them on as long as they say. Mine said three years and thats when I got them off. They hurt a few days. Sometimes a little longer depending on the person. But don't worry about. The only way you'll have them on longer is if you don't take care of them.

Doctor said = 1.5 years
Actual Time = 3 years, it may take up to 4-5 years but i insist to removed it after 3 years.

pain?
real pain = two weeks
normal pain = a month
painless = after 3 months
They told me I would have braces for a year, but now it's been over a year, so actually it depends on if you do everything they tell you to do (ex. rubber bands, etc.) They hurt for maybe 7-10 days and after that they only hurt for maybe 2 days after every time they fix your braces.hopefully that makes sense xD
The estimated treatment length is usually accurate depending on you. If you are in the office for more repairs than adjustments, then the treatment could be extended. If your hygiene suffers while in treatment, the treatment could be extended. Follow the rules.no hard, crunchy, chewy, sticky food and brush and floss as you should. The treatment length could be shortened by a few weeks or so; depending on how quickly your teeth move. At a young 16, prolly rather quickly.

You'll experience soreness for approx 3-4 days after each adjustment. Drink fruit smoothies. The coldness will act as an analgesic to numb the soreness.

Im 16 too. and just got braces. for the second time. I have metal braces but they are smaller than the regular braces but arent the damon system. I have to have them up to two years. I have to reshape my mouth because my top and bottom row of teeth dont touch. They only hurt like the first week and a half so far. The first time I had them they said 2 years and I had them about 2 and a half but I know people who have had them less then what the dentist said.
your teeth should only hurt for about a week.
also. this amount of time is jsut an estimate. it might take longer, or might be shorter than the expected amount of time.
dont break your bracess. cause breakage causes extensions.
