I just got my braces tightened and they hurt very badly?

get Tylenol or wash with salt with water. mines hurt badly then I took tylenol and I felt better

I used to have braces and I took Advil to ease the pain. I also used medicine for my gums called Orabase. It helped to numb my gums slightly and was made for people who use orthodontic appliances. Hope you feel better!
Take advil or tylenol and put gum numbing stuff on your gums maybe Orajel or something. I would also recommend if they do not stop hurting in 5 days go back to the ortho and have them lossen the wire or something.

I don't mean to sound rude , but get used to it! For as long as you have your braces on, they will tighten them at EVERY appointment until right beforte you get them off. Deal with it. Im sorry, i went through it too. Take some advil/tylenol, and maybe take a nap so you wont think about it. Read a book or play a game. The orthodontist also may be able to give you some mild numbing paste that you can rub on your gums, you wont feel a thing. Thats what i did.
You got some very good answers here. Don't waste your time going back to your dentist to get the wire loosened. There is a purpose for tightening the wire. Just eat soft foods or drink a liquid diet. I even ate some peaches baby food once because I was so hungry and it was good. And a new benefit was that I was able to eat more ice cream. In a couple of days, the pain will lessen and you will be back to normal. When you get them off, you will be so proud of your new smile. I had braces and so did my son, and neither of us regret any pain we went through to get our wonderful smiles that we now have.
