oral surgen needed for low income, uninsured?

My mom needs oral surgury. She's got an infection in the root of her teeth & gums. There's also bone damage. She has a very low income, no insurance, & can't get assistance anywhere. Any Dr. she's inquired with requires pymt (cheapest found was about $900) up front, in full, & this isn't something she can afford. She was able to get an antibiotic at the local clinic, but if this isn't fixed soon, the infection could go to her brain & . I don't even want to think about that possibility. Our deepest appreciation couldn't begin to thank any suggestions or help that could be provided in this situation.

Hi, try looking for a dental school in your area. Graduating students (new doctors) will do it much chaper than any clinic.

Also, there are very inexpensive Individal dental plans (like, $80 per year). One doesn't need to have a full time job to apply for them, but they are not as powerful as Group insurances provided by employers. These plans are pretty restrictive as of what doctor you can choose and how much they cover, but they are way better than having nothing at all. I had it at some point. The name of the plan was Delta PMI
check "social services" in the phone book, someone should be able to refer your mother somewhere for help. In my state, Maryland, I just got a refferal to a Dental School(I'm about ready to get some work done)
Definitely try to find a dental school in your area. You can look at the American Dental Association website (www.ADA.org) to find one. Most schools have an emergency program for cases like this, in which patients can come in early in the morning (Monday through Friday) to get teeth extracted. In Dallas, it costs $18 to extract one tooth. plus another $32 for x-rays. If the case is too complicated for "undergraduate" dental students to do (either the infection is too bad, she's just too nervous, etc.) she will likely be referred to the "graduate" students (who are already dentists, but are training to be surgeons) to do the extraction, where it will cost more (maybe about $200, or less), which is still a lot less than $900. Good luck! It's worth a big drive to a dental school, if there isn't one in your area, just to get that taken care of!!
Go to a dental school they do great work and will cost a whole lot less, plus they do great work and r under supervision
