does having a tooth out hurt?
cause am getting one pulled out fairly soon and am scared witless
Answers:
No. The dentist uses Novocaine. The only thing you feel is the pinch of a needle when the Novocaine is injected. Some dentists can arrange for a general anesthetic if the patient cannot tolerate the procedure.
There is usually no pain with the healing process. For at least one week, you will have to brush your teeth often and rinse with mouthwash several times a day.
Sometimes bone splinters will work their way through the gums. You will feel a needle-like poking sensation. Pull the bone piece out with a pair of sanitized tweezers.
It's gonna hurt and it's gonna hurt bad. Really really bad.
Sometimes, but if it has already broken the surface of the gum line it is much easier to do. They will give you a painkiller. It will be a little sore afterwards, but it shouldn't be too bad.
The shot hurts a little but they can numb even that feeling with this gel like stuff. After that you mainly feel alot of pressure when the're working on it. That's it, nothing more.
actually depends if they give you a local anaesthetic or not.but it will hurt once the anaesthetic wears off.
no not at all, especially these days. I'm really scared of the dentist too, and when I had teeth pulled I was really afraid. But if you've ever had a cavity filled it's no worse than that. Even better 'cause if you whine enough when you're there they'll probably just gas you with nitrous.and you'll be too busy going "duuuhhhhh." to notice what they're doing. Being informed will help. You should call your dentist and have them explain the procedure so you won't have to face the unknown. Good luck dear I feel you!!
It hurts the most the first 24 hours, I thought that it wasn't too bad. ASK your dentist if you can take "Motrin" or something an hour before he removes it, then Take the Motrin every 4 hours; only if the dentist says you can. Have Orajel or tooth numbing gel handy. Ice to the side of your face helps. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU EAT!
It will be over before you know it. Good Luck
only when you get the needle.
I had a molar out last year. It was pretty horrible. I didn't pass out but I was expecting to all throughout the hour and a half surgery. I screamed a lot. Admittedly I don't really get much out of pain medicine but it's a brutal procedure. For a few days afterwards whenever the pain meds would wear out I felt like someone jackbooted me in the face a few times.
Having the tooth out doesn't really hurt, but you can feel some pressure. Not really pain from getting it pulled. You can feel the needles for the numbing stuff tho even tho they put stuff on my gums to numb them first. You'll probly be a little sore for a couple days after. Had all of my teeth out 2 months ago. It wasn't nearly as bad as I was afraid it would be. Course a lot of mine were loose already.
