I had my tooth refilled and now it tastes bad. Why?
My filling broke a year ago and I went to have it refilled. A week later my tooth began to hurt when I eat, everything tastes bad, and it bleeds alot when I brush and floss. When I went to see the dentist, he X-rayed and said there was nothing new. Well, excpet the broken filling.
I bought one of those mirrors and pick and picked at the filling and it moves.
Would it be best to have it pulled or crowned?
Answers:
First of all, STOP picking at the filling!!.
I am assuming that you still have the broken filling. If there is cavity underneath the filling (very likely!), the decay will destroy more of the tooth and the pain worsens. In addition to pain, you will have bad breath, a bad taste in your mouth, and possibly swelling. So go see your dentist now and get a new filling before
you have spend more money on root canal (post/crown) or have to have the tooth extracted.
In general, if the filling makes up more than half the tooth or the tooth is seriously mechanically weakened, you should get a crown. Don't have it pulled, always save your natual tooth.
well, dont let them fill it with the yucky stuff that tasted bad the last time!
you are probably tasting the decay. It needs to be refilled. If it is a large filling it may need a crown.
