Any advice about getting teeth pulled?

I get 2 teeth pulled in a few days. I was wondering if anyone had advice. How much does it hurt? For how long? Anything would be great. Thanks

If you have no allergy or other contraindications and you weigh at least 100 pounds, take 3 Advil LiquiGel caps about an hour or so before your appointment. This will go a long way towards cutting the "perioperative" inflammation that causes pain later on. It also gets you started on your post-op pain control routine and you may not need to use narcotics.

If you are going to be put to sleep, use just enough water to make them slippery enough to swallow. Clear this with your oral surgeon first, though.

That is nothing compared to wisdom teeth- I have to get them done soon! OUCH!!
My answer for everything..lot's of drugs..
Just let the dentist do his job. It doesn't hurt unless you do something stupid like do it yourself.
Tie one on with some liqure before you go,just have someone drive you there=)
NO.
My advice is don't do it. but if you must make sure you have plenty of Novocaine or Gas so you don't feel it.
It depends if you need to be put to sleep or not. If they are your wisdom teeth they will need to do some cutting. Normal teeth pulling is no big deal at all. Probably won't hurt to much at all. Even if it is wisdom teeth it should only hurt for 3-15 days.
most dentists use a swab and numb your gums before the injection so thats not bad. you wont feel anything for a long time and dont suck on a straw or smoke. you will be ok. ibuprophen after that will help too
I was very nervous about getting a tooth pulled too, I haven't been to the dentist in years. I had an awesome dentist who used a freezing gel on my and then put in 3 needles that I didn't' even feel..It was a painless experience. He did say that had I come in a day or so earlier I could have gotten Valium or he could have made arrangement with a surgeon (to put me under) , but for one tooth I opted for the freeze gel and was glad I did.
Just relax.
The pain is minimal with anaesthetic administered to you gums.
Follow Dentists instructions and you will be okay
I hope you feel better soon
Its not as bad as it seems, i mean there are things that are much, much worse.like labor. i got my wisdoms pulled out and the pain went away i believe in about a week. just drink lots of soups and take a lot of painkillers if the pain is unbearable and you'll be fine. good luck.
It feels like they are tearing the tooth out of you without the pain. You can feel the gum tissue (I guess I can call it that) detach from the tooth. I remeber hearing it tear, but it didn't hurt while they did it. You'll be on Tylenol for a day or two. No big deal.
I know, it sounds gross. maybe other people would describe it differently.

Good luck,

I had to have my wisdom teeth pulled. And I am not going to lie it did hurt. After the Novocaine wore off I really needed the pain pills he gave me. But you can use Ice the first day to help with the swelling and pain, and then switch to heat after 24 hours. I was fine after about 3 days. I hope this helps at least a little. good luck.
The only pain you'll feel is the shot they give you to numb your gums. They usually give you something before that to numb that a little bit, too. You won't feel the actual pulling. Afterwards, take some pain meds and eat something light like soup or jello. You'll be fine!
Don't stress, it doesn't hurt as badly as you think. It hurts a little for a day when you're eating but just stick to soft foods and you'll be fine.
It'll hurt for a few days. The dentist usually gives you pain medicine for that. Eating soft foods and avoiding too hot or too cold of drinks will also help. Just remember if you don't get it done now you will wish you had. Bad teeth can cause many health problems.
If the extractions are normal you should experience a little pain but it will be manageable.

There will be some bleeding that should go away in a few days. The dentist and dental assistants will advise you on how to care for that and if anything is abnormal they'll want you to come back in for follow-up treatment.

The most important part of healing is to keep the sockets clean. It's fairly easy with uppers and a little harder with lowers. Plan on eating soft foods for a week or so to minimize chewing.

Rinse out often. Plan on resting.

It's best to have someone drive you to the dental appointment and drive you home afterwards, but I've driven after having extractions. It just depends on how much they have to drug you. The dentist or oral surgeon should be able to advise you.

You should consider this as a surgical procedure and treat the convalesence the same as you would for any other surgery. You will need some recovery time, but generally you will be just fine once things heal up.

Good luck to you and do whatever the doc says you should do.
Yes. Get a phaser to knock yourself out with first. Because--according to my wife--it hurts like HELL for a few days.
That is why you pay someone that God-Awful amount of $$$!! To make sure that it Hurts like Hell!
If the extractions are surgical, they will hurt a bit more than regulars. If the teeth come out in one piece and they don't have to cut extra gams or drill the bone away,it will hurt just like a cut on your finger.Every 4-6 hours take some painkillers until next day.it will feel better in 48 hours. You will be pain free during.Nothing to worry about.
They will numb you will not hurt at all. Take your pain meds on time you will have no problems.
