I have pain under my tongue, what can it be?
Answers:
could be muscle spasm. there's not enough info here to make a diagnosis so you should see your doctor if it persists.
my BEST guess, based on your info, is some sort of issue with a salivary gland...the submandibular glands are located there. maybe there's a blockage. a cheap and easy treatment for that is to suck on some lemon drops...this will get your juices flowing and hopefully clear the duct.
If you are a smoker of some years, however, there's a chance it could be a squamous cell carcinoma, which is the most common oral cancer. this is like an ulcer under the tongue (usually) that doesn't heal even after 10-14 days. so if those things are true, get it checked out ASAP.
Be careful & aware of this pain. If it doesn't go away, you will have to have a doctor check it out. I don't want to scare you but when my aunt was in the nursing home, she complained about the left side under her tongue & they had to bring her to the hospital, do tests & I had to sign for them to remove a tiny speck of her tongue because it was malignant. She never smoked but they "thought" her ill fitting false teeth irritated one spot over the years so much that it wore the "covering' of her tongue at that one spot --just a theory. Anyway, she was fine & it did not affect her speech or eating or anything & it was an extremely tiny spot. Pls don't think I'm trying to scare you but just make you aware. It's probably an "aptasore" which is an irration some people get in the mouth, kind of like a coldsore, after being sick or taking antibiotics. Hope all gets better soon. Rinse with warm salt water & watch what you eat --avoid acids like citrus & tomatoe products, tea & so forth.
It most probably might be an ulcer. The best thing u can do right now is to see a doc so that he can actually see if its an ulcer or is it some muscle spasm thingie or sumthing.
You may have pulled a muscle.;)
