Maybe you're clenching your teeth at night, that strains the jaw muscles. Do you also get headaches?
Who punched you?
it may be some sort of infection, best check with your dentist he will advise you,
you may have a mild case of lock jaw. that is when you open your mouth too far (not in a dirty way either) then you muscles in your jaw tighten. It's almost like you pull you muscle in your jaw, which is why it hurts under your jaw and not at the sides.
Could be a bad tooth or an infection.
could be because you have been eating to many solid foods try some softer food mix it up
it's because the muscle under your lower jaw is stiffen, my suggestion, do not open your mouth too wide, especially when eating or yawning. i have the same kind of problem, go see a bone specialist or dentist
its probably an infection that could be remedied by antibiotics. jaw muscles are located along the cheeks and near the ear area so its not trismus or muscle pain . if you're having pain on the joint area of the jaw (near the ear area) that's a bigger problem.
You are either grinding or clenching or you may have the start of an infection going on. Have your dentist check it.
