your not supposed to as the sugar causes plaque around the brackets! i had mie on for 15 months and had them off in january, i still drank the fizzy drinks but made sure i scrubbed the 3 times a day!!
yep u can but just make sure u brush ur teeth and braces morning and night, if its a train track one u basicly do it together and if its the type that comes out like i had when i was a teenager make sure u clean the plate properly coz if u dont ur breath will stink to the high heavens

The reason they tell you not to drink fizzy things is because the fizziness is acidic and can therefore attack your teeth. This is true even for diet fizzy drinks or fizzy water.
The reason they warn you not to drink fizzy drinks or too much fruit juice is that if the areas around your braces are worn away, it can leave stains when you have your braces removed. In other words, there will be a whiter patch where your brackets were and stains around the edges!
I know it's hard not to drink fizzy drinks for a long time - I just cut down on them and made sure I cleaned my teeth really well afterwards. In the end it was good for my health as well because I wasn't drinking as much sugary stuff. It was worth it in the end as my teeth aren't stained!
