can taking expired medicine hurt you? Or is it not as effective?
Answers:
Depends on the med. Most just become ineffective; a few actually change chemically over time in ways that can be dangerous. Ask the doc who prescribed. If it wasn't prescribed for you, don't take it at all. If it was an over-the-counter med, just buy new stuff.
yes, why would you even want to put something expired in your body anyway? its harmful it does twice the effect of hurting your organs than anythign else
It can be not as effective
depends on the kind of meds you are talking about. with tylenol or something like that it's just not as effective. all in all i just wouldn't mess with it and buy some new stuff.
would you drink milk that is expired??Maybe if it is only one or two days past due, but that is about it.
I believe they will definitely become ineffective. as to whether it will harm U depends on the kind of medicine as medicine is just chemicals and there might be different chemical reactions over a long period of time.
For your health sake, its best not to take medicine that has expired. its totally not worthed risking your life for something so minor.
Best not to take them, either they won't work at all or in the case of some of them they turn toxic. There is an antibiotic that turns to poison when it has been aroudn too long. Talk to your pharmicist.
Certain refrigerated medications will expire, so don't use those kind. But most tablets/capsules are good for up to a year after the expiration date. I have been told by a reliable source that you can take the meds up to a year. The pharmaceutical industry wants us to throw these away and but more!! I used a bottle of syrup of ipecac when my son ate poison. The bottle expired 6 years ago. Guess what? It worked, He threw up the poison. Basically if it is going to do anything it won't hurt you if it is old , just won't work.
Forget Allapathy medicines..even the unexpired ones can hurt..they have serious side effects. Use herbals but even these can have side effects but these side effects usually are not as serious. To take things slightly expired is okay but if it's say a week expired toss it out! This applies either to allapathy meds or herbal items. Would you eat food that's a week spoiled ? I bet not! There is an exception Cheese.. and sour cream! But even these can get worse so they also have an expiry date so in away it's not an exception but actually cheese or sour cream is spoiled milk or spoiled cream!
