Why does vicodin (or hydrocodone) make people itch when they take it and also why does it give people?
a euphoria? I took the prescribed amount (7.5mg) and it made me feel like i was high and drunk and i was very itchy after a while
Answers:
The codeine in the medicine causes you to itch. It is like an allergic reaction, but if your only itching and no other reactions you are fine. I took it for awhile and the Dr. had to also scribe me meds for the itching!!
Sounds like you allergic to it
your liver does not like vicodin! (this happens when your allergic to a drug or take too much at once, called toxicity!)
when my liver damage was bad (was reversed in half by antiviral chemo) i could not take vicodin because it made me itch (and made my liver hurt!) however, now that my damage is cut in half, the vicodin doesn't do that anymore.
so chances are:
1-allergic to vicodin
2-liver damage or disease
have it checked for peace of mind!
good luck!
it was 750mg not 7.5 and all opiates have that effect or side affect i should say why i dont know
Coneine is an opiate and makes some people itch more than others..Opiates commonly cause some minor itching..
I have seen many people take hydrocodone without itching, but many did get addicted. Try another pain killer, because you may be allergic to it.
