I'm 27. Am I too old to try and be a longevist?

I think it's an interesting theory and I'm interested in seeing what kind of health benefits can be gained by attempting to double my lifespan. Can someone give me some websites where I can get un-biased information? Also any testimonies would be good too.

Answers:
First, let me pass on some advice I've heard on how to live longer:
- Eat less. Humans can get by on around half the calories they normally eat, so long as they don't overexert themselves. This slows down their metabolism, which in turn slows down oxidization of proteins, one of the leading causes of cell degeneration. Studies on laboratory animals have shown this process alone may as much as double your life expectancy.
- Eat more vegetables and less meat. Apparently this also has health benefits.
- If you live in an urban area and want to get somewhere, drive. Driving is safer per distance than walking or motorcycling.
- Live in a house with only above-ground floors, no basement, and do not put any granite in your house. Granite can release radon gas, which increases cancer risk.
- Get married. Married people have a life expectancy at least several years longer than single people.

Here's a web page you can try:

Too Old?? No. It's never too late to change the road your on. All you have is do.
well just eat lots of fruit and veges and have meat only once a week.
try to eat organically as much as possible - free range eggs too, so you are not getting any hormones or crap they inject into the animals.

ok also dont have kids. people are suggesting that without proper human population growth controls that within 100 years there will need to be manditory death sentences for humans who exceed a certain age so we can control population (some people think the age will be 30 or 40 years like in the Movie Logans Run)

adopt a pet - studies have proven that people with pets live longer. its important that the pet be an adopted one - not a pet store one.. becuase you will feel better for saving a life if its an adopted one (From SPCA or humane society)
My gran is 87, she believes in a glass of wine with lunch and has no qualms about having a whiskey and water as a sundowner, she also finishes hot showers with a blast of cold water. My grandfather is 88 and believes in no alcohol. The only thing these two have in common is lots of excercise and a healthy diet, not too much or too little of anything, both are still active and alert. Find a golden highway.
