Herbalist out there, Question about rose hips.?

I have some roses of the (rubgi.) edible type.
Can the hips be harvested and used before 1st frost?
Should bush be clipped of old hips?

yes harvest just before frost, clip off any dried up ones. did you know that apples are from the same family as roses?
