This question is in alternative medicine so I'm going to give you a natural way to treat depression. We have endorphins to give us the feeling of well being and even feelings of euphoria. These endorphins are neurotransmitters and are made by our body from certain amino acids. People that are depressed are usually low on theses amino acids or the nutrients that are catalysts for the conversion to endorphins. Sam-E and vitamin c are both catalysts for the conversion. The body converts Tryptophan to 5HTP to serotonin. The body converts Phenylalanine into noradrenalin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. Most people are not deficient in phenylalanine but may be deficient in sam-e or vitamin c. I have clients that have gotten off of antidepressants by taking supplements of sam-e, vitamin c, and 5HTP. These nutrients will not affect your sex drive.

Speak with your doctor, but unfortunately, I think that is a very common side effect of SSRI's in particular.
my wife's on them as well. I want her sex-drive to return too !
but keep on taking the tablets, as prescribed. Not all at once.
talk to ur dr. it may not be the right one. it took me awhile to find the right one. hang in there and talk to ur dr. and partner. tell ur partner how u feel and stuff. belive me, it will save a lot of heartache and pain. possibly a divorce,
ask your doctor for an antidepressant that does not affect your sex drive.
stop taking them and try yoga and meditation:)
I drink a functional fruit juice that replaces antidepressants as well as enhances your sex drive. It is an adaptogen so it works very well on all auto-immune deficiencies.
I have been on antidepressants for 10 years. I have tried 4 different ones. My sex drive was low. The doctor prescribed Wellbutrin. My love life has been great. This drug is also suppose to effective for men. An extra bonus was the 10 pounds that i lost also.
I tried both Effexor and Welbutrin and had the same problem with both after a few months. I think being anorgasmic only added to my depression!

I tapered off the pills and switched to St. John's Wort. This is a natural mood elevator for mild to moderate depression and is readily available, even in Wal-Mart. It worked for me as it has worked for many others.and there are no side effects! Check with your doctor about d/c-ing the pills and give the St. John's Wort a week or two to kick in. Hope this helps!
You need to talk with your doctor - hopefully you are seeing a psychiatrist who is knowledgeable and experienced in treating depression and using pharmaceuticals. Do not stop taking your antidepressant without first talking with your doctor. Some drugs must be titrated - reduced gradually or can have serious consequences.

Depending on the severity of your depression you may need antidepressants and may be able to use a different type. If you are suicidal or severely depressed it might be more important to get your depression under control. Seeing a talk therapist to help you develop techniques to handle symptoms might also help.

Mild depression can sometimes be handled without drugs or with alternative methods. Severe depression is just that - severe and needs to be addressed by a competent professional.
