Is the power of the pharmaceutical industry affecting the evolution of alternative medicine?
Answers:
Yes, in two very distinct ways:
1. I think they've given ACM a boost by saturating television with advertisements stating point-blank what the side effects are. Until they brought the "nasties" out in front of people, it was easier to ignore.
2. They're starting to add "natural" ingredients to some of the OTC lines which, inadvertently I'm sure, lends credence to ACM.
yes but i cannot tell you how with out further study
Nope. Because there things that alternative medicine can do that pharmaceuticals simply can't.
Yes, I believe it is speeding it up trying to find alternatives to chemicals that are overpriced and can be actually very harmful to us. Not to bad rap meds, I believe in the ones I am prescribed, but the industry is taking us all for a ride.$$$$$
Yes,, in my opinion, and the medical establishment as well as the government assist them in every way.
Mike Murray ND addresses this question in his Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine, and so does Dr Whitaker's Guide to Natural Healing. Finally, Dr Atkin's Vita-Nutrient Solution gets pretty testy about how the 'industry' leans on the little guys. There is definitely hostility among the great powers for the vitamin and herb business. Business as usual..
